 Bandırma is a district of Balıkesir Province of Turkey. It is a town in the southern part of Marmara Island, Turkey and the largest in Balıkesir Province.
Bandırma has an area of 690 km² and borders Kapidag to the north, and Manyas to the south, Bird Lake (Kuş Gölü) to the east, and Erdek to the west. The 2000 census put the population at 120,753 citizens, and according to a 2005 estimate, the population was about 140,000.   Bandırma's twin town is Kamen, Germany.
       Erdek is a district of Balıkesir Province of Turkey. Located on the south coast of the Sea of Marmara, Erdek is known as a friendly holiday destination that is popular among domestic tourists. The area has rugged geology and topography and evergreen wooded areas.

  HISTORY OF GONEN CITY :

 The first name of Green Gonen(BC) was ASEPSUS ,The Name of Gonen was changed as ARTEMA because of rich thermal sources.Artema was a city which was belongs to Byzantine Empere until 1334 year,Sultan of Orhan Gazi conquered of Gonen in 1334 year and passed to Ottoman empire.Kings of Byzantine and Bursa was fruquently coming to cure at Gonen Thermals because of this reason ,The city was built with wonderful architectures. After Archaeological Digs has shown that The Gonen was very big city which were inhabited lots of civilations.There are lots of Historical findings like,statues,writings and is a very big bridge which was built by ıskender after ıran war.There are very important historical places such as;Alacaoluk castle,Babayaka castle and Mozaik Museums from Byzantine Empere.
